The first year of the Licence Double Diplôme Économie, Mathématiques (LDD1 EM) lays the groundwork for a demanding dual expertise. It provides a balanced curriculum between mathematics and economics, within a framework designed to ease the transition from high school to university. This year also introduces students to academic methodology and scientific rigor.
LDD1 EM is the first step of the three-year program. It ensures the acquisition of essential prerequisites and working methods in both disciplines. The curriculum is structured around core courses in mathematics and economics, supplemented by reinforcement classes, broadening courses, and methodology.
Information
Skills
Upon completion of LDD1 EM, the student will be able to:
- In mathematics, master the basic concepts of algebra and analysis, and solve standardized mathematical problems;
- In economics, understand and explain fundamental mechanisms;
- In an interdisciplinary manner, understand the initial links between mathematical models and economic concepts;
- In transversal skills, structure written reasoning, use computer tools, and express themselves in English in an academic context.
Objectives
The objective of LDD1 EM is to consolidate and unify the foundations in mathematics and economics for all students. It aims to ensure mastery of the fundamental mathematical tools essential to both disciplines, provide the keys to understanding basic economic mechanisms, introduce simple modeling and rigorous reasoning, and support adaptation to the university environment and the demands of dual-disciplinary work.

Target Audience and Entry Requirements
LDD1 EM is intended for students with a French general baccalaureate who have an excellent level and a strong interest in mathematics (Mathematics specialty highly valued, "Mathématiques expertes" option valued). An interest in economic issues is essential. The ideal profile combines the Mathematics specialty and the "Mathématiques expertes" option, with a specialty such as Sciences Économiques et Sociales (SES) or Numérique et Sciences Informatiques (NSI). Motivation to maintain a sustained pace of work and to engage in a dual-disciplinary program is a main selection criterion. International students with an equivalent academic profile are also encouraged to apply via Parcoursup.
